“I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do”
John 17:4
What is our real purpose here on earth? Before I used to mistake it as just believing in God and I’m good to go… but in reality, God created us to glorify Him just as the trees raise up their branches for the glory of our God. I remember last year some of the youth went to English bay a few days after camp and Kuya Genis started asking us deep questions and one question that came up is what our real purpose is… and everyone had their answer but I believe his answer was simply to glorify God with our life. We keep saying glorify God but what does that really mean? Glorifying God is not limited to us being at church during praise and worship… everything we do, we could use to glorify Him if we do it with God in the center. Yes we could walk the street for God’s glory, we could eat lunch for His glory just like what the bible said on Corinthians 10:31 “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
Let us glorify God 24/7.. because there is no mediocre when it comes to God - it’s all or nothing.

“Jesus answered and said, ’You do not know what you ask’-“’
Matthew 20:22
Being with God doesn’t mean that it’ll be an easy life from here on out, that there will be no challenges that will come along our way. There will be times that we will feel like we’re far away from God just like what most of the CYN will be experiencing 2-3 months after camp.. but that shouldn’t make us just accept things as they are but rather hold onto God. There is always a bigger picture as to why things happen in our lives, God will never lead us to failure but the challenges we come across will only make us a better person. When times are tough, don’t give up on God but instead harness all your faith in Him. When we only see the shadow of God’s face, hang on to that until he fully reveals what is being done in our lives. I remember a friend of mine asked “Why do bad things happen to Christian people if God is supposed to be there?”.. he asked his mom that as he was telling me the story, I wanted to answer at the time but I didn’t have any for him. Now if you ask me the same question I would say.. “Bad things happen to Christian people because God is working on their lives right now.. there’s always a bigger purpose, always a meaning behind every situation if we’re patient enough to trust in Him.. these trials are set upon us to make us a stronger and better person - that is how God is shaping us to the person He wants us to be.”. I have a testimony regarding that, I don’t know if I said this yet on my previous devotions but that time the girl I first truly loved broke my heart.. it seems that God did that to make my life better because if we hadn’t broken up, I’d still be lost in infatuation and be wasting my life trying to entertain her.. what do I mean by that? well… it’s a long distance relationship and I wasted so much money just visiting her and paying for everything… if we’re still together, I’d probably just working and not be in school right now and still be secluded from everyone and just always wait to phone her at night.. but because she broke up with me (and I’m fully convinced that it is God’s doing) I’m back at CYN, I’m in school and I’m hanging out with you guys!(well the BC ones atleast? =P) I could definitely say that the heartache was worth it because my life is better now and if it hadn’t happen… I probably wouldn’t even be at camp this year because I would be busy with her. So when you’re experiencing trials just completely believe in God because He is working in your life at that moment… it maybe cloudy at the time but once the storm settles… you will see the light that He is shining just for you.
Note: WOW… this one is a long one and I didn’t even notice it until I published the note.. I pray you reading all of this would be worth your time. =]
If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.
John 13:14
How does it feel to be loved by God? It feels great right?… His unconditional love that we always experience everytime we come close to Him.
The verse is telling me that we should love and serve others as how God loves us. Being more like Christ is to also act like how Jesus would to us. Patience, kindness and compassion is what we should exhibit to our neighbours. Just like my previous devotion with the Brad Pitt one, as we exhibit Christ-like actions.. the people we interact with will see God through us. Being a Christian is not about us but about God, others then ourselves being last - JOY: Jesus, Others and You. Service others as Jesus has served us… .
I’m not telling anyone what it is .
should i? *Peter Chao Laugh* AAAAhahahaha…
Gibberish..
“Nathanael said to Him, “How do You know me?”
Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”
John 1:48
I got a different interpretation of this as compared to the one in utmost.org so I will do what God is trying to say to me in this verse.
The verse is telling me that God knows us even before we came to Him and there is nothing we could hide from God.
All our actions and thoughts may not be seen by everyone but God sees us. Never get the idea that because noone can see you that it’s ok to do it because God sees you. We can’t be Christians with a secret life, our lives is supposed to be a testimony to encourage others so we have to keep in mind that everything we do must be to glorify God because He knows and sees us.
We know that once we have the personal relationship with God, He is always with us… let us not only remember that God is always there during our hard times but be aware that He is with us every second of every minute of every hour of every day… which goes to show that He knows us too well that He even knows us way better than we know ourselves.
But that doesn’t mean that we should stop praying or talking to God because He knows us from the inside out.. we still need to maintain that connection with God in order for us to have a personal relationship with him.. just like what I mentioned on my past devotion “Healthy relationships are based on communication…”
i don’t mean to get ahead of myself but…
i just realized my day is not complete without getting a “hi” from you.
no worries, i’m keeping it steady…
i got God to pursue for now and maybe when i’m really close to Him, i’ll see you there just like that love triangle with God in the middle.
maybe..
What good is all the cash… if it doesn’t buy time?
“Jesus came to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God.”
Mark 1:14
Jesus is God’s gift to man and the good news he brings and what the bible has been talking about is the salvation we can receive, the hope and unconditional love that God has given us.
Jesus made the way after He got crucified at the cross and when the veil was torn -that’s the good news..
Everyone’s favourite verse John 3:16 summarizes this good news that the passage is talking about.
Because of Jesus Christ we can pray to God, we can ask for forgiveness and we can get to know God.
Alot of people today hear the good news but they see it as a burden, a nuisance or something stupid.. or in James Garvez’s situation - gay.. and it’s up to us to spread this good news and let the people understand what they’re missing out on.
I know it’s hard because just like the time where my friends we’re trying to make me sign up on facebook I was really against it because I already had Friendster.. or that time that I have never eaten raw fish like sushi before.. I was really hesitant and my friends never gave up.. until I tried it and once I understood how it good it is.. I always eat salmon sushi now..
Just like with God, some people don’t fully understand the good news the bible brings but let us not give up on them… we know how wonderful it is to be walking in God’s light and we obviously want our peers to feel what we feel too.
Just like what they say in Future Shop - “It’s not really a sale unless you handle the toughest objections and in the end… they buy what you’re trying to sell to them.”
