I learned from this devotion that I should grow out of the thought of seeking God for blessings, joy, peace, etc. and that I should seek Him realize who He is and not what He has done for me.

When we want to get to know a person, we want to get to know them because we are interested in them and not reliant on what they could do for us. It is a selfish thought and it doesn’t differ from our approach to God. I learned to not be so focused on developing myself but focus on getting to know Christ more. Just have faith that God will find favour in my life as I get to know Him and not just seek Him for the rewards and promises He is willing to give.
