What I learned today was so straightforward that this might be a short one. The last line on utmost.org said the following:

The Son was obedient as our Redeemer, because He was the Son, not in order to become God’s son.

Why do we obey Christ? Do we obey because we want to be “turned into”  Christians? or we obey because we want the blessings?

It was hard for me to grasp before the idea of self-denial before because I was selfish but the more I get to know God and who I am supposed to be, it makes more and more sense. If we truly see ourselves as God’s servant, children, followers, then we should see God for who He is… GOD. Just like how we see our own parents, we don’t obey our mom or dad to become their children, we obey because we ARE their children and the same goes for Jesus. We do not follow Him to become a Christian, we follow Him because we ARE Christians. We obey because of who we are not what we want to become.
